Let me introduce myself, my name is Lisa Davis, I have been in the construction industry for 30 years. I owned my first construction company in Vermont in the early eighties. We built ski condos in Okemo and Woodstock Vermont among other projects.
Since 1998 I have been working in Sonoma and Marin counties, first with Wildcat Engineering, and later with my own company, Sonoma County Builders. I was the only contract administrator with both companies.
For both Wildcat, and Sonoma County Builders my responsibilities were to identify and determine suitability of job opportunities to determine if we would bid the job, review plans, solicit applicable sub contractors, and meet on site for inspection prior to bidding. All communication with clients, building officials, architects, inspectors, sub contractors and material suppliers. Connect with project owners, City, County, School District and other officials to clarify plans and specs, procure necessary permits as required. Prepare bid packages for subcontractors so that we are all bidding on the same thing, and assure bonding, insurance and financial requirements are met. Coordinate subcontractors including scheduling, review and approve submittals, change orders, and, for public works projects, prevailing wage documentation. Negotiate with owners and subcontractors regarding proposals, legal contract details, all bookkeeping including liens and court actions. Communicate with architects and civil engineers regarding on site details that may not have been anticipated, prepare and explain Change Orders if necessary. I was responsible for all state and federal reporting requirements, AIA documents, lien processing, safety programs, workers comp insurance documentation and reporting.
Sonoma County Builders fell apart with the economic fall in 2012, and I went to work for Valentine Corporation, a large commercial structural concrete company. There I was the bid coordinator, estimating assistant and assistant to the CEO for five years.
In 2017 I earned my Class A contractor’s license. I am certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, for those involved with State or Federal contracts. I am a LEED Accredited Professional. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and I hold a legacy LEED accreditation.
